MathWorks is seeking an experienced engineer with a passion for modeling and simulation to join our Consulting Services team.  In this role you will help our customers become self-sufficient in the use of MathWorks tools to model electrical systems in support of their physical product and control design workflows. This role will support diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, automation, energy, and medical devices. Projects comprise of advisory services, coaching, process assessments, customized electrical systemdesign, and custom solutions development.

  • Lead consulting engagements and deliver technical services to customers (~50% of time)
  • Deliver consulting services to aide customers in the construction of simulatable virtual representations of electrical systems, including power electronics, power generation components, motors, and battery systems
  • Understand the customer’s development processes and engineering challenges
  • Collaborate with account teams to articulate the value of modeling and simulation, build tool adoption and implementation plans
  • Conduct discovery and qualification discussions with customers
  • Conceive, prototype, and evaluate potential solution strategies

  • Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without restriction.

  • A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Experience with electrical design and simulation
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Simulink is strongly preferred
  • Background in power electronics, motor control, or circuit design
  • Some programming experience (Simscape Language, C, C++, VHDL, etc.)
  • Experience developing and verifying simulation models for the purpose of control design, component sizing, and system performance evaluation
  • Candidates must be willing to travel based on business needs (~10%)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in both a group and individual settings

Pluses:

  • Experience with Model-Based Design or model based systems engineering
  • MS or Ph.D. in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with MathWorks tools or other engineering tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, ETAP, EMTP, Plecs, OPAL-RT, Sabre, or SPICE
  • Experience in deploying physical models for real time execution using hardware in the loop (HIL) systems
  • Familiarity with motor control modeling and simulation
  • Experience developing Battery Management Systems
