Description

A growing number of research applications require real-time processing of EEG data streams,including when signal features of the EEG are used to trigger actions such as sending TMS pulses. For these applications, minimum latency and high accuracy become increasingly important.

The actiCHamp (Plus), all-in-one lab amplifier, supports real-time processing applications. It can be combined with active (actiCAP slim cap) or passive (BrainCap TMS) electrodes embedded in caps, suited for TMS recording.

To support real-time processing, Brain Products has developed the TurboLink interface to access and stream EEG data from the actiCHamp (Plus) within less than 1.5 msec via the User Datagram Protocol (UDP). This enables connection to the sync2brain bossdevice for data processing and precise execution of brain stimulation (i.e., TMS) protocols. The bossdevice offers programmable real-time processing functionality via Simulink Real-Time™.

The bossdevice runs over an API built in Simulink Coder™ and Simulink Real-Time. Therefore, these two add-ons for MATLAB® and Simulink® are required. The bossdevice API is a set of low-level functions that allows the user to control the bossdevice in a user-friendly programmable manner, whereby the bossdevice can perform certain high-level tasks including generating trigger outputs, timed in a certain fashion at a certain phase of an ongoing EEG oscillation.
