Simscape Acoustics
R2026bSimscape™ Acoustics enables the simulation of system models that include the acoustic physical domain, using Simulink® and Simscape.
Simscape Acoustics provides basic acoustic domain blocks for building lumped-parameter models. It includes components like tubes and enclosures, and it can model effects such as thermal and viscous losses. It also includes models of complete electro-mechanical-acoustic sensors and transducers like microphones, earbuds, and loudspeakers.
You can use Simscape Acoustics to run time-domain simulations of system models encompassing acoustic components, sensors, and transducers, across the mechanical, electrical, and acoustical domains. Examples illustrate the effects of coupling sensors and transducers with both audio DSP modules and models of physical systems like the ear canal, the eardrum, ducts, and cabinets. With Simscape Acoustics, algorithm and system engineers can use MATLAB® and Simulink for early validations of their DSP and physical designs, long before detailed simulations, early prototypes, and measurements become available.
Dr. Steve Thompson of The Pennsylvania State University created the Acoustical Domain for Simscape, an previous version of this library. Simscape Acoustics was developed in close collaboration with Dr. Thompson.
