Acoustic propagation in a cone

Since R2026b

  • Cone block

Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

This block models the transmission line of a cone. The model implements an equivalent circuit of a small-end Acoustic Inertance block, a uniform transmission line as a Cylindrical Tube With N Segments block, the transition from small-end to large-end as an Acoustic Transformer block, and a large-end Acoustic Inertance block.

The values in the equivalent circuit are computed using a standard conical waveguide model [1].

Equivalent circuit to the Cone block as a Simscape model.

Ports

Conserving

expand all

Acoustic conserving port associated with the positive terminal at the small end of the tube.

Acoustic conserving port associated with the positive terminal at the large end of the tube.

Acoustic conserving port associated with the negative terminal at the large end of the tube.

Parameters

expand all

Length of the cone in meters. The axial length must be larger than the difference of Large-end radius and Small-end radius.

Small-end radius of the cone in meters. Small-end radius must be smaller than Large-end radius.

Large-end radius of the cone in meters. Large-end radius must be larger than Small-end radius.

Number of segments in the tube, specified as a positive integer.
