How to plot BER in semilogy with specified Y axis.

My semilog plot, Y axis shows from 10^-0.33,10^-0.35,10^-0.37... 10^-0.45. But i need the plot from 10^0,10^-1,10^-2,10^-3.... 10^-7. i ve tried "set(gca, 'ytick', 10.^(2:2:10))" this command but its not working in the negative powers. Kindly Help me.

Please paste a short section of x,y data and the semilogy command that produces the troubling plot for our benefit...
