In my case I am using a hdmi to usb 3.0 captureboard.
You can recognize it like a webcam in Matlab.

You need an hdmi to frame conversion device. There are some available cards for the purpose, and possibly some USB dongles as well.
Mathworks has a whole solution put together for hdmi in conjunction FPGA

Please note that starting with the 24a general release, the features of the Xilinx Zynq Support from Vision HDL Toolbox will be available thorugh Xilinx Zynq SoC Support from SoC Blockset.
