On what basis do you vary the Laminar Pressure Ratio parameter in the Local Restriction (MA) block in Simscape?

This is the parameter I have mentioned in the question. Is it purely user-based or is there some merit to vary it?

I've adjusted this parameter to match the shape of a deltaP-Q curve over an orifice inside a valve.
But 99% of the time, I didn't need to or have any basis to change the default value.
