Symbolic Math Toolbox has had an adjoint function since release R2013a.

then why the error is appearing. i have 2013a, but i got the same issue. :(

Perhaps you do not have the Symbolic Mathematics Toolbox installed?

adjoint = det(A)*inv(A)
