Currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA. Chanaka received the PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2017; and B.E. (First Class Hons) and M.E. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He has industrial work experience at the Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (MERL) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; and research and teaching experience at the University of Sydney and University of Auckland.

I'm a principal technical consutant at MathWorks. I specialize in code generation, interfacing hardware and software, and optimizing architecture and performance. I specialize at the boundary of seismology and computer science, developing community software to support seismic monitoring, research and education.

My main MATLAB community project is GISMO, which is an object-oriented seismic data analysis toolbox. It originated at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with Celso Reyes and Mike West. Celso developed the Waveform Suite. GISMO includes the Waveform Suite and a lot more.

I also program in Python, Perl, PhP, C, C++. I try to avoid Fortran as much as possible.

My background is working at volcano and seismological observatories, but presently I am a university professor and enjoying teaching the next generation of geophysicists.

Bilal A. Siddiqui received Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from NED Universtiy, Pakistan in 2004. He then worked for the national space agency of Pakistan, SUPARCO as an aerodynamics and flight control systems designer. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia in 2010.
