I have developed an acoustic sensor that can pick up water leaks at a substantial separation distance. The leaks must originate from pressurized plumbing, which causes the emission of broadband acoustics. The sensor is on a small PCB that communicates with the host controller via I2C. I have connected to an ESP8266 WiFi module and uploaded data to ThingSpeak. The entire project is open-source; you can view the documentation, design files, and firmware on github:

Let me know if you have any questions. Mike

This is really neat! What are you going to do with this next?

Thank you. It is listed as a pre-launch product on the Crowd Supply website. If it gets enough interest, we will do a small production run. At the present time, I am trying to get feedback from the community, so take a look at the github link and post questions here. I'll do my best to answer.

The AquaPing is now open for pre-orders at Crowd Supply:
Despite the global chip shortage, we were able to get an inventory of critical parts to do a limited production run. The campaign must first meet its funding goal.

Update: The crowd funding campaign for the acoustic leak sensor was successful. A production run was completed and units are being shipped to project backers in 17 US States and 7 countries.
