License validation is a feature of MATLAB licensing that allows MATLAB to check for license related updates every thirty days. This article will explain:
- What is license validation?
- What can I do when validation is overdue?
What is license validation?
License validation compares the client's license file to the licensing information on the MathWorks activation server and will prompt the user to accept any changes that have been made. These changes can include updated product lists or deactivation of the entire license.
The computer only needs an internet connection when validating. Validation is only available for Individual and Designated Computer license types, not network licenses.
What can I do when license validation is overdue?
When license validation is overdue, you will not be able to perform certain features such as:
- Dynamic updating of license files when products are added or removed
- Redesignation of products on Master Licenses
To check if validation is overdue:
- Go to your License Center and click the License
- Then going to the “Install and Activate” tab
- Click on the Activation Label –
- If validated you will see (Current) next to the “Last Validated” field
- If overdue, it will say (Overdue)
You can force validation from the MATLAB toolstrip by following these steps:
- Open the Help menu
- Then select Licensing
- Click update Current License.
