Why do I receive MathWorks Licensing Error 11?

Why do I receive the following error:

MathWorks Licensing Error 11. A licensing error occurred while trying to use <PRODUCTNAME>.

This error indicates that the start or expiration date in the license file is invalid. This can happen if the expiration dates in the license file have been changed.

You can also get this error if you are missing the space between the #users and the 20 digit encryption code in the license file. Please compare the INCREMENT lines of your license file with the INCREMENT lines of a newly downloaded copy of your license file. They must be exactly the same.
