Has anyone successfully run Matlab 2012b on Mac OS X Mavericks? I am wondering if I need to upgrade my OS X now since it looks nice. Thanks.

The student version 2013a is not running after upgrading my OS to 10.9.

Thanks a lot for this instruction. I successfully reactivated as well. One issue though. My R2012a version couldn't connect to the Matlab site for some reason. I deactivated by running the script deactivate_matlab.sh under bin. Then followed these instructions to change the hostid and obtain a new license file. http://www.mathworks.in/support/solutions/en/data/1-16WI3/index.html?solution=1-16WI3
Get the new license file and put it under licenses. Works beautifully!

I did everything that is suggested above. However when is typed in my serial number Matworks came back saying that the maximum number of authorized computers is exceeded and I can't go any further. On the earlier Mac OS versions I installed and used Matlab 7 as a single user on a single iMac

I'm trying to install 2012b on OS 10.9 but get an error: "a valid host ID cannot be detected on this computer". I can manually find the host ID in Terminal so I know it has one but Matlab can't "see" it. Any suggestions?

The system requirements page have not yet been updated, but we have validated R2013a and R2013b only. That said, I expect R2012b will run fine.

You may need to re-install Java 6 after updating. I am under the impression that OS X will prompt you do to this when you try to start MATLAB.
It's not really a downgrade in a literal sense, since Java 6 and Java 7 can peacefully co-exist on the same Mac.

R2012b is running fine for me. However, when trying to install R2013b I get the following error:
“InstallForMacOSX.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
Any ideas what that means?

This is the Gatekeeper feature of OS X. By default only apps that are from develops registered with Apple are allowed to run on your machine. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Then click on the button to allow applications from anywhere.
