Serialport set empty terminator

So I need to set the read terminator to CR and the write terminator to nothing.

However the new serialport object does not allow an empty terminator. How do I set it correctly?

s1 = serialport("COM1",9600, "Timeout",3);
configureTerminator(s1, 'CR', '');
