How can I seperate overlapped objects in this image ?

Hi everybody.I am new to matlab and digital image processing.I am trying to count the objects in this image but there are many united objects and when I try to remove them using erosion some small objects are also being lost.Is there any working way to seperate objects on this image.Thank for any help.

You might try marker controlled watershed segmentation, like in Steve's blog: http://www.mathworks.com/help/images/examples/marker-controlled-watershed-segmentation.html

Detecting and Counting Objects with Circular Features:
It looks that the methods in the link, might work also for your image, try to play with the sensitivity of imfindcircles and the tolerance of RemoveOverLap functions.
