data sharing Between two GUIs

hi all, i am using a GUI in a GUI. i want to share the data between the two GUI's. i read that we can use setappdata and getappdata commands to share the data between GUI's. but i am facing the problem in using those commands. i think i didn't have clear idea in using the commands i.e . the syntax. i didn't get much help from the help menu. can any one please help me in using these commands.
