Hybrid standalone/concurrent license timeout

In my organization I have inherited a mishmash of licenses. Each researcher on my team has their own basic Matlab standalone license. In addition to that, we have a network license server with licenses for a number of specialty toolboxes. I am looking at setting up each researcher's installation to take advantage of both their own standalone license and the network license for certain toolboxes. The question I have is about the timeout on the license server.

I know I can set the license server to timeout licenses. That article explains that what times out is the Matlab license, not the licenses of individual toolboxes. Based on that explanation, I expect that if I am using my own standalone Matlab license but a network toolbox license, that the toolbox license will never timeout. It follows that the only way I could release my toolbox license is to close Matlab. Can anyone confirm?
