Matlab dlgradient more examples?

Are there any other examples out there on how to use matlab's dlgradient function? I read the documentation page for dlgradient on the deep learning toolbox page, but I am still a little bit confused on how to use it.

Would it be sensible to use the dlgradient function to take derivatives for the purposes of linearizing a nonlinear dynamics function? Or is this function meant to only be used to take derivatives in a machine learning context?

When I search MATLAB exaples for dlgradient, I see 47 examples. I haven't gone through them, but perhaps check there?
