Mac version performance with R2012b

Is the performance in the Mac version of R2012b still as atrocious as it has historically been, or has MathWorks decided to actually try to improve it?

I'm not a TMW developper, but I'm convinced, that they have decided to actually try to improve it.

Do you have a specific topic where you are not satisfied by the performance? rendering of graphics, file access, interaction in GUIDE, linear algebra calls, functions of a specific toolbox, OOP or processing of loops?
