2d Surf plot on a given image

I am given an image, i display that image, now is there a way i could plot a* 2d *surf plot on the same figure as the image that is on the image itself..

Ex: i am given an image i display it on a figure...say a face image....now i generate a* 2d* mesh/surf plot ...now i want this plot on the face image itself..
