I have MATLAB 2020b with a Student Licence with several toolboxes, maily on signal, antenna, and communication systems.
I haven't tested all toolboxes, but my problem began when using the Antenna Designer and Antenna Array toolboxes. I can't change parameters, see graphs, mainly anything with these apps. While monitoring with the Resource Manager of Windows 7, the memory allocation for MATLAB is normally below 2 GBs. When applying changes on parameters the memory shoots up to 6-7 GBs and stays there forever. If the parameter change doesn't freezes it, any usage of plotting tools shoots up the memory to 12-16 GBs and stays there forever, lagging and crashing my computer.
The same happens sometimes with Simulink.
Actions taken to try and fix:
  1. Stopped all non-essential processes, closed all other programs trom the Task Manager ----> no fix
  2. Re-installed MATLAB ----> no fix
My computer is a Dell Inspirion 15 5000 Series, Intel i7, 16 GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro
GraphicsRenderer: 'OpenGL Hardware'
Vendor: 'ATI Technologies Inc.'
Version: '4.4.13084 Compatibility Profile Context 14.301.1002.1001'
RendererDevice: 'AMD Radeon R7 M270'
Details: [1×1 struct]
I've used the OpenGL functions for hardware and software for rendering, and didn't fixed it

I understand that you are having issues with the memory consumption of MATLAB. Here are some best practices that you can follow for efficient use of memory.
If you still face the same issue, you can go through the discussion in this question and follow the steps provided in the answers-
