How can I create a simple GUI for tracking a robot in MATLAB?

Hello, I am reading data from the serial port of my PC which comes from a autonomous robot. The data changes with the motion of the robot accordingly(front,back,left and right). I want to create a GUI which displays the robot motion(not interested in the background of the GUI). It is just for a college project so I am looking for some easy-to-implement ideas.

How about using plot() to display the path of the robot? Just pass the x,y coordinates of the robot, which I guess you have somehow, into plot().
