Reading gmail from MATLAB

Hello,

I am trying to read a gmail message from MATLAB. I have the database toolbox and am open to a solution either with or without this toolbox. In short, I have another, cloud-based, service that will send a notification email and I want MATLAB to look for this email and launch a function once it is received.

From the other service I have the ability to modify the subject of the email, so I could also use MATLAB only to look for an email with this subject line.

I've been able to use sendmail with no issues for the same gmail account, but have struggled to find any documentation about reading.

Please let me know if you have any ideas!
