help me in image processing (intensity pair distribution)

how can i find an intensity pairs distribution for a given image

if we assume that we only consider 4 neighborhood of a pixel

am testing an algorithm purposed in this paper

There is a function called graycomatrix() in the Image Processing Toolbox that may come in useful.
