Mean Square error for classification

I have a question about loss functions in classification problems (convolutional neural network). I have to create a CNN for binary classification of images. I know that the most common loss function for this situations is binary cross entropy. Although my question is: Is it forbidden to use mean squared error (MSE) as a loss function for this binary classification problem?
