storing the value in simulink

i am running a simulink model which has function blocks also,
i want to use the the variable w=[1 1 1] in one of the block and in the block the value of w has to get updated in evry cycle but the problem i am facing is,
  1. if i am initiallizing it in the function in every cycle the value of w starts from w=[1 1 1] not fom the previous cycle updated value.
  2. how to transfer the updated value of the w to the workspace.
