Greetings I have some vibration data and i want to find a single frequency component both in frequency and time domains. actually i want to find any fault occurred during the course of operation of the machine.i have done some coding with continuous wavelet but the results still not very clear for me. any suggestions would be highly appreciated Thanks and regards Khan

You will only be able to localize it within a time-frequency region. The area of that region in the time-frequency plane depends on the properties of the basis, or frame you are using.
Can you be more specific what you mean by the results are not very clear to you?

thanks @ Waynw king by this i mean how would i know that fault is occurred at specific time? or how can i claim that specific frequency at particular time is my faulty frequency?
