Which module would be most applicable to my needs?

So I'm a manufacturing engineer who works in an industry that has a significant number of variables within the product itself separate of ambient variables such as temperature. Keeping this in mind my superiors want me to find a way to predict many of the day to day machine run rates, and the amounts of material used.

In one instance I created a hexagonal hole packing theorem to be able to predict material utilization. But these have been moderately accurate, and as such I'm looking for a way to improve my predictive models for things such as this. I've worked with Matlab back in college, and I'm thinking of pitching us using it to develop some more accurate models. My needs are for a module that can analyze data for any patterns that are not easily seen or detected(I've been using excel up until now), be able to "learn" and predict accurately from entered information and various inputs, and be able to clearly display this as my superiors are very visual. What modules would be a good fit for those needs that I just listed?

Have you analyzed the predictive maintenance toolbox? I think it can be very useful for your purposes. You can find more information here and a series of webinars which can be very illustrative in this link.
