besselj and transfer functions?

Hi,
I want to use the function call besselj(nu,Z) with Z is some transfer function. I get an error which says that the inputs to besselj() must be numeric. Is there a clever way I can work around this?
The reason for this is that I want Z to be a function of frequency on the Bode plot scale, so that I can multiply the result of besselj with another transfer function, say the integrator (1/s).
