Hi, i am a student working on the system modelling of electric sports car. I have been using simscape to model the powertrain but i am not able to connect certian blocks and therfore i am finding it difficult to complete my task. Does anyone have any prior experience with system modelling using simscape if so please do help.

I have some experience, not much but I can tell you that working with simscape library is somekind different. For an example you need a solver inside the model (solvers for physical model) just to start it ... I'll post you a link with a manual about simhydraulics because that was a project I was on.... And also, you cannot mix the signals, what I mean is if you need to work on a simscape control unit then it's necessery to have so called PS-S and S-PS converters so you can actually work with simulink library. Here are the links about it and a some kind of a manual about simscape hydraulics:
Inside the manual, posted in second link, you'll find that matlab suggests that users should start building their model step by step so it's possible to track changes and some loops problems. Also, working with physical models (in my instance that were valves) required some informations about the parts. So keep that in mind especially if you think you can work with ideal elements. Simulink cannot do some calculations based with value of zero (so, for an example you'll need to specify some dissipation in elements no mather how small that number is)
I hope that you'll get your model working and wish you all the best.
