Is there an alternative for kalman filter

Hey People,

I am part of a university student group working on a project. Here, we have to combine sensor datas from various sensor. I would like to know which one is better Kalman or Extended Kalman or is there any alternative available(A linear system).

Harish - do you mean Linear Kalman vs Extended Kalman filter? I suppose it depends upon what you are trying to model (and how it impacts the state vector, transform matrix, etc.). You may want to provide more details.

For a linear system, a linear Kalman filter is probably enough. There is also a simpler form of Kalman filter called alpha-beta filter if you are interested.
