Dear all,
I am a continuing PhD scholar in the Department of Electronics Engineering at Kyungpook National University in South Korea, and my research work spans on the Shared Control of Automated Vehicles. Currently, I am trying to receive the Force Feedback data on the Logitech G25 Steering wheel. I am able to get the Wheel's steering angle along with the throttle and brake input in Matlab Simulink. I have interfaced the Matlab Simulink real time Joystick cum Gear Shifter with force feedback capability. But the only problem that I have is to obtain the force-feedback data in the Matlab simulink to visualize the effect when the car encounters a rough road or an accident.
For getting the wheel steering angle, throttle and brake input, I am using the logitech Momo racing wheel input model that identifies my Logitech G25 hardware steering set perfectly and provides me with all the inputs. But the Force feedback data is the one that I would like to receive as output from the Matlab Simulink. I am sending you the Simulink hardware implementation of the racing wheel interfaced with the Logitech G25 set.
I would like to request any one of you to kindly help me in this regard.
Thanks and Regards,
Subrat Kumar Swain

Hi Subrat,
Apologies for the delayed response here but this is an interesting question that I wanted to provide an answer to for other folks. I think a lot depends on what your model looks like. For example, when using a vehicle model from Vehicle Dynamics Blockset, vehicle acceleration/deceleration values can be obtained from the vehicle body and augmented to be used as force feedback.
Even the current steering angle could be used to provide some force feedback to the steering wheel. Ultimately, once you enable the input ports on the joystick block, you just need to decide what type of information is available in your model, and augment that information in a way that provides reasonable force feedback, and feed that to the steering wheel via the joystick block in Simulink.
I hope that helps!
