Linux Renderers for EPS

Hello,

I am having persistent trouble with saving figures (with graphics such as surf). Whenever I save to EPS, there are lines in the resulting images (which are still there after building my latex document too). I have tried setting the renderer to ‘opengl’ and ‘painters’ with opengl having fewer lines than painters. I am running 2016B on Ubuntu 18.04 (Also have this issue on another 16.04 machine). I’ve done some searching (which is how I found the suggestion to use the opengl renderer) but I don’t know what the root cause is or how it can be fully resolved.
