Hello,
I've seen that matlab suggest a PCI card ethernet connection with the target computer. https://www.mathworks.com/help/xpc/ug/command-line-pci-bus-ethernet-setup-multiple-target-computers.html
But is it possible to use the ethernet bus in the mother board of the target computer. That is because I don't have a ethernet card available.
I'm using matlab R2017a

This is possible; however the ethernet controller on your motherboard will have to be of a certain brand/familiy for it to be supported by Simulink Real Time. These families are listed in the dropdown "Ethernet Device Settings" in slrtexplr, Intel is generally very well supported. I use the following Intel ethernet cards in Simulink Real Time targets:
  • Intel 82579LM
  • Intel 82574L
  • Intel i350
