How to copy excel sheet from book to book?

Hi,

I need to copy an excel sheet with equations into another book. Hopefully, the equations will wake up and realize their data is on now-existing sheets :)

Anyway, that could be some Matlab command(s), or perhaps I develop a VBA that Matlab invokes, with an argument passed to VBA. There's even formatting on the sheets to be moved, so it's not just a "data transfer".

Not sure the method that should get me there.

That's an Excel syntax question, not Matlab. You can invoke Excel commands thru the ActiveX connection, but the specific methods are in Excel documentation. For this kind of operation unless you're adept in VBA, you can probably most easily uncover the proper methods by recording a macro and dissecting it.

Right.. I know VBA. I was focusing also here on a pure Matlab solution... if any.

Matlab "knows nuthink!" of Excel other than xls{read|write).

You can drive an ActiveX session from ML, but it's simply calling the Excel methods while passing the desired session data. Whether that counts as "pure Matlab" in your lexicon I don't know... :)

Oh fooey. I solved it:

            [num,txt,wholeSheet] = xlsread(outname,RAWsheetname,'A1:BZ500'); % capture giant range
            xlswrite(filenameEnvelope, wholeSheet, envelopeSheetname, 'A1:BZ500');

This will not cause the equations to "wake up", though.

I'm no Excel whizard so wasn't positive you'd get all the appertunances wanted by simply read/write...

I think, however, you can dispense with the range argument and simply use

[~,~,raw] = xlsread(outname,RAWsheetname);
xlswrite(filenameEnvelope, raw, envelopeSheetname)

and accomplish the same thing.

Yea, leaving the range out takes the whole sheet. Perfect.

And, I put the equations portion on another sheet that I don't care about, leaving just a numeric and string transfer left to do on this sheet.
