reduceDifferentialOrder returns more equations than variables

The title says it all. I've got a system of 5-Differential-Algebraic Equations (2nd order) and 5 states. Using reduceDifferentialOrder returns 7 variables but 13 equations.

[newEqs,newVars] = reduceRedundancies(eqs,vars)
