If Exists Update else Insert Matlab/SQL

Hi,

What is the correct syntax for updating an "existing" field in an SQL Table.

If Exist Update Else Insert

At the moment I am fetching the entire table from the Database and loop through all the rows and compare to the new data, which I would imagine will eventually slow down the application as database grows.
