How can I assign the actual value of a selected popup to my mask variables in Simulink 2017a?

I want to use pop-ups as the control types to set several mask variables, but I want to store in those variables the actual value of the selection, not the index or corresponding string.

You can do this by accessing the actual values in Mask Initialization as mentioned in the post.
