Equation doubt

hi Frnds,

I have a doubt in below equation

v = v + mu*4*del2(v) - SqrMagf.*(v-fy);

In above equations is mu=0.2 v=image and Sqrmagf=square of gradient of image.Fy is gradient variable.Actually the equation perform curve operation or shrinking operation. It is used in the Active Contour.
