How to sort bad data out of datastore files

Hi, I am using datastore for processing datafiles. Sometimes the datastamp in the datafile is invalid (eg: 2000 00 00 00), and T = read(ds) fails. Is there a way to sort these bad data from the files, when reading from the datastore ?
