How to display rgb image of 256*256*3?

I display using imshow function, however, it shows a grey scale image.i.e the image is not color-coded.
Can anyone please help me?

I don't understand the problem. So you have an RGB image where everything is a shade of gray. So what? That's allowed. Every one of the 3 color channels is the same. That's allowed. Is that not what you were expecting?

the pixel value is gray, that is showing gray
