Instantiate more than 2 rotary encoder objects

I have a 4-wheel omini-directional robot with 4 motors I wish to control with MATLAB. Each motor has a quadrature rotary encoder. So far I've been able to work with only two motors(encoders) as MATLAB returns an error message saying I've reached the maximum number of rotary encoder objects for my Arduino Due board. Is there something I can do to have more than 2 rotary encoder objects as I need to command the 4 motors ? Thanks in advance for your answer.
