Matlab GUI help

Hi,

i've built a GUI which a user can input specific parameters, I want these parameters to be exported into a text file so when they click a 'run simulation' button, the .exe file can use the input data for the simulation.

1. how would i go about taking this data and putting it into a text file

2. How can i make sure this is done before the .exe runs
