How to do a mechanical simulation of an Harmonic oscillator?

Hi everybody,
I have interest in numerical simulation. I know how to simulate the electrical and thermodynamic aspect of dynamical systems but I have no clue on how to simulate the mechanical aspect of a dynamic system actually and I would like to simulate an harmonic oscillator to visualize the varations of the potential energy! Can someone help me ? Thanks!
