how to control(remote) digital camera(canon powershot sx110IS) by using matlab?

I am doing a machine vision project to identify the defects on a circuit board. but i am having problem in controlling the camera by using matlab. my computer just treats it as a mass storage device instead of a camera, is it possible that i can remote the digital camera in matlab?

You'd need to get the Image Acquisition Toolbox from The Mathworks. But you might also need to see if your camera shows up in the Imaging Devices category in Device Manager (if you're using Windows). If it doesn't, you might need to get some software from Canon that allows your camera to be seen as a camera and not as simply an SD card.
