how do I get east and west meridian labels

Drawing geographic maps with worldmap, for a region that crosses the Date Line (180E) and when the origin longitude is set to 180, all the meridian labels are either "E" or all "W". How do I get the east longitudes labelled "E" and the west longitudes labelled "W"? See two examples below.
