Neural network and get data from workspace

Hi, From the neural net pattern recognition toolbox, at the Select data window, in the get data from workspace I can not choose the input (stays at "none") EVEN though I have tables in my workspace. There seems to have nothing to choose from. From documentation it seems a relative simple and streamline process. I have 2 tables with numeric and categorical data: The first for X data and the other the Y. Any clues. Thanks.

Hi Michel,

I assume you are using Neural Network Pattern Recognition Tool and you want to import some training data. You cannot import data from tables directly.

However if you have to train your network on two features, you can create a matrix for the same.

For example,

    a=1:10;   % 1st feature vector
    b=3:13;   % 2nd feature vector
    c=[a;b];  

    d=[0 1 1 0 1 1 0 0 1 0]; % target vector

Now you can import variable 'c' in the workspace as Inputs and 'd' as targets in the GUI.

Also note that you select samples are 'Matrix Columns'.
