What general integration method does the "lsim" function use?

What general integration method does the "lsim" function use? As in: Modified Euler..or Runge_Kutta.. or Adams-Bashforth?

It doesn’t appear to use any ODE solver, and seems to concern itself only with linear systems. (This surprises me, since I remember doing nonlinear plants in grad school many, many years ago with Simulink ODE solvers and core MATLAB ODE solvers. I also remember linearising them and then doing iterative simulations to emulate the nonlinear systems with a step-wise model reference controller.)
Be that as it may, the documentation says:
  • Discrete-time systems are simulated with ltitr (state space) or filter (transfer function and zero-pole-gain).
A search for information on ltitr revealed: equivalent of "lsim" command.
You can send a Tech Support question to MathWorks, but I doubt their reply will be different from this one. Please post back here with their reply if you ask them.
