colorbar zooming problem with gca

Hello, I am trying to make contour plots so that I can eventually put them into a movie. However, I'm having a small problem that doesn't seem to follow any pattern but instead occurs at random time steps (at 5 and 45 between 1 and 160). At these time steps the figures and colorbars zoom in more than the others using gca in Matlab. I have attached the code and images. This first image is correct but the second one has the colorbar and contour zoomed in more. This does not happen for my lab mate who is running the same exact code.
