My university provides a license for their students to obtain Matlab software. I am attempting to get Matlab on my personal computer but I have encountered an obstacle trying to associate my account with a license. On the webpage https://nl.mathworks.com/licensecenter/licenses/add?s_tid=mwa_com_aslc_cta2 after I input the file installation key consisting of 21 sets of 5 digit numbers provided to my by my university then I receive the following error message:
Errors
The license number or activation key did not match any existing license number or activation key. Please try again.
Please contact support if you continue to have trouble
I try to contact support but the online support request form rejects my service request and I receive the following error message:
The request could not be completed because of the following:
Invalid License # value
Please note that in the (failed) online service request form where it requests a license number, I input the same file installation key consisting of 21 sets of 5 digits as used when trying to associate my account with a license. But when I paste this long number into the relevant text field, then all but the first 9 characters vanish due to truncation.

You need to contact your university about getting a different key. The key you need is probably 5 sets of 5 digit numbers, not 21 sets of 5 digit numbers. The longer set is a "File Installation Key" rather than an activation key.
Note: for one of my licenses, the File Installation Key is 4 sets of 5 digit numbers. For a different license, the File Installation Key is 19 sets of 5 digit numbers. It is possible that the different lengths have to do with the different products that are associated with the license.
